Taylor Wicks, Dan McCullough Honored

At the WHS Honors Ceremony on May 14, Massillon Tiger Swing Band’s own Taylor Wicks and Dan McCullough were named Miss Massillonian and Outstanding Senior Boy, respectively.

Miss Wicks has been a four-year member of the band and has served as a Section Leader. She was a student director at last fall’s Senior Show, where she led the band in a rendition of Funkytown, by Lipps, Inc.  Upon graduation Taylor will study pre-med at the Ohio State University.

Mr. McCullough has also been a member of the band for all four years, and has led the band as Drum Major for three of those years.  Dan will also be attending the Ohio State University in the fall, where he will be studying Middle Childhood Education.

The Miss Massillonian award is a 70+ year tradition in the Massillon City Schools, starting in 1941*.  Outstanding Senior Boy was added in 1953.  The awards are based on academic performance, leadership ability, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work.

The MTSB was well represented this year. In addition to Wicks and McCullough, finalists for the awards included MTSB members Christine Collins and Zane Radcliffe.
