2013 Wind Orchestra Showcase

The Washington High School Wind Orchestra held its annual Showcase concert on May 9, 2013.  This concert featured selections that were performed at the OMEA State Contest (where the orchestra earned Superior ratings) as well as pieces prepared specifically for the showcase.

The following two selections were prepared specifically for the showcase.

Arabesque, by Samuel R. Hazo

The Liberty Bell March, by John Philip Sousa.

Performance of this piece was inspired by the MTSB trip to Philadelphia in the spring. Standing by the Liberty Bell, Mr. Neel listened to an original source recording of this march, and it was suggested that the Wind Orchestra perform the piece at the Showcase.  The Massillon-McKinley Victory Bell has a prominent role in this performance.
