Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest
Members of the Massillon 7th and 8th grade bands will be participating in the Ohio Music Education Association's (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event on Saturday, April 7th at Tuslaw High School. This event is an opportunity for students to perform a piece (or pieces) that they have selected and have been practicing through the year in front of a judge. That judge will give them a rating and offer valuable feedback on their performance.
Over a dozen schools are slated to be at this year's "contest", and Massillon's first performer takes the room at 8:00am, while the final MJHS instrumental performance is scheduled to begin at 2:52pm. The MJHS Vocal Music students also participate in the OMEA contest, and their final vocal performance is scheduled for 3:16.
OMEA contest is free and open to the public, and we encourage you to come out and support these talented musicians, many of whom will be entertaining you at the high school and at halftime in the next couple of years! While tempting, OMEA rules prohibit audio/video recording or photography of any kind (including cell phones) in the performance areas.
