Junior High Band Concert

Massillon Junior High School - Auditeria

The annual spring concert by the 7th Grade Band and the 8th Grade Band. Following the concert will be a meeting for all incoming freshmen band students and their parents. Free and open to the public.

WHS Symphonic & Freshmen Band Spring Concert

Thursday, May 7 @ 7:00pm
Washington High School - Auditorium

The WHS Symponic Band and the WHS Freshmen Band will perform their Spring Concert. Free and open to the public.

OMEA Band Contest - 8th & 9th Grade

Saturday, May 9
Hoover High School, North Canton

The 8th Grade Band and the 9th Grade Band will compete in the OMEA Large Group Contest.  The 8th Grade Band performs at 8:00am, and the 9th Grade Band performs at 10:30am.  Contest is free and open to the public. No recording devices of any kind.


Intermediate School Band Concert

Wind Orchestra Showcase

The WHS Wind Orchestra will perform their annual showcase concert. Free and open to the public.

The annual celebration of the outstanding work of all the Instrumental Music students this year.  A reception follows in the cafeteria.  Open to all high school band students and their families.

Performance from the Massillon Junior High Jazz Band and the Washington High School Jazz Orchestra. Hot dogs and snacks provided by the boosters. Free and open to the public.


Massillon Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 25 @ 9:30am
Downtown Massillon

The annual Memorial Day parade features the Massillon Tiger Swing Band, and is the last chance to see this year's Seniors.


WHS Graduation

Tuesday, May 26 @ 6:00pm
Paul Brown Tiger Stadium

The Freshmen Band will be providing the processional and recessional music as we bid farewell to the Class of 2015 and wish them the best of luck on their future (hopefully musical) pursuits.  Graduation seating is by invitation only.


wind orchestra 2014 15

The WHS Wind Orchestra qualified to compete at the OMEA Large Group State Contest at GlenOak High School on Friday, April 24th.  The orchestra will perform three pieces prepared for the contest, and then will "sight read" a piece presented to them for the first time at that event.

OMEA contests are free and open to the public. No recording devices of any kind are allowed. The WHS Wind Orchestra will be performing at 8:15pm.

UPDATE (4/25): The Wind Orchestra earned the highest rating, "Superior", at the State Contest! Congratulations to all the musicians!!


Come down to the Firehouse Grille - 48 2nd St SE in Massillon - on Tuesday, April 21, have a great dinner and help the band.  Dine in or carry out between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, and the Massillon Band Program gets 20% of the proceeds!!

You don't need to present a flyer, but you can download one as a reminder (and to give to friends and neighbors)!

Great food and it benefits the band program! It's a win-win!! We'll see you there!

The Massillon Tigers Band Boosters consists of band parents and other persons interested in promoting instrumental music in the MCSD. If your child is involved in the band program, you are already a member! The Boosters staff the concession stands during football games and other band events, maintain and organize the band uniforms, act as chaperones to away games/events, and provide support to the band directors.

As we near the end of this school year, we are also nearing the election of officers for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Elections will be held on May 7th, just prior to the 7:00pm Spring Concert.  Any band parent, current or incoming, who is interested in running for office, is asked to submit a short bio to Denise Louk  via email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or turn it in at the booster meeting on April 16th.

If you wish to know more about the responsibilities of each position, please speak with one of the current officers, or visit the Band Boosters page. There you will find a roster of current officers and position descriptions, and you may download the constitution.  The next booster meeting is April 16th.  Meetings are held in the WHS Band Room (Door 23) at 7:00pm and usually run less than an hour.

The WHS Symphonic Band and the WHS Wind Orchestra will both be competing at the OMEA District Contest in March. In preparation, these two bands will be performing a concert featuring the music that they have prepared for the contest.

The concert is Thursday, March 5 at 7pm in the WHS Auditorium. The public is invited to this free concert to enjoy the wonderful music, and to wish our bands well at the district contest!

Featuring the 6th Grade Band, 7th Grade Band, and 8th Grade Band, this is an opportunity to experience the present and future of the Massillon Band program!



Jazz Orchestra/Washingtonians Holiday Concert

Lions Lincoln Theater

This annual extravaganza features the WHS Jazz Orchestra performing holiday songs and standards, and the Washingtonians performing their traditional holiday show.



WHS Holiday Band Concert

This holiday concert feature three of the most outstanding high school bands in Ohio - the WHS Freshman Band, WHS Symphonic Band, and the WHS Wind Orchestra.


The Basketball Band is made up of members of the Freshmen Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Orchestra. The Band will rehearse once, and play at eight games throughout the basketball season. The band performs a variety of music before the game, during half-time, and during timeouts.

On Saturday, October 11, 2014, the MTSB will be performing in "The Shoe" - Ohio Stadium - on the campus of The Ohio State University for the 2014 Buckeye Invitational.  This year this annual show features 42 high school marching bands from across Ohio, plus a performance by The Ohio State University Marching Band!  Massillon is scheduled to perform at 6:00pm, with OSU taking the field at 9:30pm.

The Buckeye Invitational is open to the public. General admission tickets are $12 presale, $15 day of the show.

Bob WenzelOur own Bob Wenzel, the voice of the Tiger Swing Band, will be speaking at the Massillon Museum's Brown Bag Lunch series on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at noon.   His topic will be "A Century of the Massillon High School Band".  Bring your lunch (or purchase one from Anderson's in the City, in the museum lobby) and join Bob as he discusses the "pre-swing" band, the impact of George "Red" Bird on marching bands, and highlights from 100 years of the Massillon High School Band.

Admission is free, and coffee and cookies will be provided by the museum. The presentation will run approximately 40 minutes.
