2015 MJHS Marching Night

The Massillon Junior High Marching Night is scheduled for Friday, September 30.  The schedule leading up to and including the performance is as follows:

Wednesday, September 28
4:15-5:15pm
TWIRLERS ONLY!! Practice with Mrs. Doherty and the majorettes in the armory.

Thursday, September 29
4:15 - TWIRLERS ONLY!! Practice with Mrs. Doherty and the majorettes in the armory. You will join the rest of the band in the DREAM building and finish practice at 6:45.
5:15 – 6:45pm - MJHS BAND
Rehearsal at the WHS Indoor Practice Field (DREAM building). Rehearsal will begin PROMPTLY at 5:15. Please have yourself, your instrument, and music ready to go by 5:15.

Friday, September 30
4:00 – 4:30pm
Rehearsal in Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. This time we will rehearse with the full Massillon Tiger Swing Band. Again, make sure you have your instrument and music ready to go by 4:00. Students need to be picked up at the stadium at 4:30 and report back at 6:00. Students SHOULD NOT plan to stay between 4:30 and 6:00. Please note that there will NOT be a tailgate party this year.  Students should be picked up after the band/choir rehearsals end. A meal before performing is highly recommended!

GAME NIGHT! Friday September 30
6:00pm – 9:15ish
We will meet at the armory, which is beside the WHS Band Field, and march over to the stadium with the Tiger Swing Band. AGAIN, make sure you have your instrument, music and yourself ready to go by 6:00.

You should wear a black or orange t-shirt or hoodie, blue jeans, and athletic shoes.  The performance goes on, rain or shine. Please dress in clothing that is appropriate for the weather/temperature.

After the Performance
The Junior High students will be released to their parents, or the responsible adult listed on the permission form, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEIR HALFTIME PERFORMANCE (usually between 9:15-9:30, depending on the game).

Parents:

  • If you indicated that you would pick up your student inside the stadium, please come to the gate next to the band bleachers (NW corner of stadium) as soon as halftime has ended.
  • If you indicated that you would pick up your student outside the stadium, please come to gate #9 by the visitor's entrance. Students will be escorted as a group to this entrance.
  • If you indicated that your student will have a ticket to the game, that will be verified and the student will be released on their own.

FOR THE SAFETY OF THE STUDENTS, NO STUDENT WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE BUT THE CHILD'S PARENT OR THE RESPONSIBLE PERSON INDICATED ON THE PERMISSION FORM. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE BAND AREA WITHOUT SUPERVISION UNLESS THEY HAVE A STUDENT TICKET TO THE GAME.

Attendance at Junior High Marching Night is voluntary. However, all rules and consequences outlined in the Massillon Junior High Band Handbook will be enforced. We expect students to conduct themselves in a way that is appropriate for a band performance.


Instruments - after the performance

ALL STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS AFTER THE PERFORMANCE.
The only exceptions are mellophone, sousaphone, and percussion players. These instruments will be transported back to the armory by the band staff.
